Good Enough For The Money
I originally bought a humidifier at Walmart. I got it home, unpacked
it from the box and immediately put it back in. I could tell it was a
cheap piece of junk. Read more

This review is from: Vicks Warm Mist Humidifier with Auto Shut-Off (Health and Beauty)
I had mistakenly bought this one thinking it was a cool mist humidifier.
I obviously can't read. lol Regardless, I turned had this humidifier
on high the first night in a closed bedroom only to have a tropically
humid environment by morning. I can safely say that it works well.
Now, I just use it on the lower settings. Even with filtered water, I
get some calcium buildup on the heater device, but just use an old
toothbrush once in a while to clean it, and you're home free. Compared
to other no-filter humidifiers, it seems to work very well (without
leaving an damp area on the floor).
It works well, and raises the humidity in my dry apartment.
However,
and this is a big however if you like low maintenance gadgets, you have
to clean the filter on this thing nearly daily. Even with the
anti-bacterial additive that I purchased with it, it still forms this
white, crust-like residue on the filter that, if left for days and days,
will take you hours to remove.
Maybe it's my water. I don't
know. But I know that once I stopped using the heat in my apartment,
this little thing went into a cupboard and will stay there until the air
in my apartment is too dry to handle again.
