by FridaBaby
Product Description
From the Manufacturer
Nosefrida The Snotsucker, the doctor-developed and
doctor-recommended nasal aspirator is the new standard in keeping babies
naturally snot free. Ingeniously simple Swedish design features a tube
that is placed against the nostril (not inside). Parents use their own
suction to draw mucus out of their child's nose. Disposable filters
prevent any bacterial transfer. Nosefrida is easy to clean, dishwasher
safe, and BPA and Phthalate free. It is superior to the bulb aspirator,
presents no risk or harm to internal nasal structures and is
dramatically more efficacious.

This review is from: Nosefrida The Snotsucker Nasal Aspirator (Baby Product)
We have used the Nosefrida regularly with our 20-month-old son ever
since he was born -- I won't even touch the bulb sucker anymore because
it just seems clumsy and even dangerous (like you could shove it too far
in, and how can you ever know if it's clean? eyew.). This is now one
of my must-give baby shower presents. For some reason my friends
registered for bulb suctioners (not knowing any better), but I buy them
this and they thank me after the baby arrives.
For what it's
worth, if your kid has a really runny nose you can suction directly, but
if the air is dry, I recommend inserting a few saline drops first (like
Little Noses or similar), waiting a minute, and then suctioning again
because the saline will loosen the snot.
Oh, the baby's snot will
really never get anywhere close to your lips -- this is not a gross
product at all, and it's easy to clean.
So your baby is too sick to drink or sleep easily. You have to do
something about it. It's going to be traumatic; nasal aspiration always
is. There will be tears no matter what. The advantage of Nosefrida is
that it's over faster. It does what bulb suction does in a much more
efficient way- gets more out and gets it out quickly, so you can remove
the uncomfortable foreign object from your poor, snoggly, wailing
child's nose and comfort him/her already.
(Two quick notes: I was
worried that I would somehow suck too hard and end up hurting more than
I helped. The length of the tubing assures that you cannot do this-
test it out by putting the blue end on the back of your hand and sucking
on the tube. You'll pass out from lack of oxygen before you get
overpowering suction. The level is just right. Also, I agree with other
reviewers that buying additional filters is unnecessary. It comes with a
couple and with the way Nosefrida is designed I have a hard time seeing
how you would contaminate them.)
I love this! There's nothing gross about it, way more sanitary than the
bulb aspirators. It's less painful for the kid, too. He still doesn't
like it but he doesn't cry like he does with the bulb. Very easy to
clean. Takes a bit to get use to. I highly recommend a baby nasal
saline spray 30 sec before to help things go smoothly. I usually spray
the nose before a diaper change, wash my hands, and then clear out his
nose.
